Lava
Lava
Lava is inching its way to homes of people living on the big island in Hawaii. Officials say that the lava was about 100 yards away from a house on Monday morning. After a little while the lava crossed Apaa Street on Sunday in Pahoa Village, which is considered a main town of the Big Island's isolated and rural Puna district. It was getting dangerously close to Pahoa Village Road, which goes straight through downtown. The flow advanced about 275 yards from Sunday morning to Monday morning, moving northeast at about 10 to 15 yards per hour. At other times, the lava slowed to about 2 yards per hour or sped up to about 20 yards per hour. Those living downslope of the flow are under an evacuation advisory. Most residents have left or have made arrangements to go somewhere else if necessary. The couple living in the house closest to the flow have left but have been returning periodically to gather belongings, Oliveira said. "They are out of the property and awaiting the events to unfold." Scientists began warning the public about the lava on Aug. 22. At the time, residents were cleaning up from a tropical storm that made landfall over the Puna district, toppling trees and knocking out electricity. Kilauea volcano, one of the world's most active, has been erupting continuously since 1983. Initially, the lava seemed headed for the Kaohe Homesteads, a widespread, sparsely populated subdivision in the Puna district. It reached vacant lots in the subdivision before it stalled. It skirted the northeast corner of the subdivision and then headed toward Pahoa. Pahoa has a small-town, quaint and historic charm, but it's "the only town in a commercial sense in lower Puna," said state Sen. Because the lava could change direction, any community in Puna is at risk. Everyone in the district lives on the volcano. Why would someone live on an active volcano? Unlike Honolulu, the state's biggest city on the island of Oahu, the Big Island's Puna region has affordable land and offers a more rural way of life. Residents know the risks as there are special insurance requirements to buy land in certain lava zones. no one knows if the lava flow will stop, change direction or hit homes.
In the 1990s, about 200 homes were destroyed by lava flows from Kilauea.
The last evacuations from the volcano came in 2011. One home was destroyed and others were threatened before the lava changed course. Kilauea is home to Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess. Some residents expressed anger at suggestions to divert the flow. They say it's culturally insensitive to interfere with Pele's will. The U.S. Geological Survey says Kilauea is the youngest volcano on Hawaii Island. Officials estimate Kilauea's first eruption happened between 300,000 and 600,000 years ago. The lava isn't a reason to cancel a Big Island vacation because it's an isolated event.
Officials have warned people to stay away from the area and imposed flight restrictions because of helicopter tours hoping to see lava.

Pokemon
Pokémon has always been my favorite Tcg (trading card game). They are like animals but with cool added features for example: Squirtle, it resembles a turtle. Most Pokémon can evolve and turn into bigger and better versions of themselves for example: Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charzard. They have types: here are them all normal, fire, water, electric, grass, ice, fighting, poison, ground, flying, psychic, bug, rock, ghost, dragon, dark , fairy, and last but not least steel. Each type has a weakness like grasses weakness is fire. There are items that can do almost everything and there are poke balls which can capture Pokémon. That is most of the basic things about Pokémon.

Ghast
Ghast
A Ghast is a minecraft mob. It can be found in the nether unless you spawn it in. They shoot fire balls you can deflect it with any thing just by punching the fireball, try to air at the Ghast when you deflect the fire ball or it blows up a chunk of the area you are by and sets most of that place where it exploded on fire. Ghast are very large, jellyfish- or ghost-like mobs that float through the air and shoot fireballs from their mouths. They are lava and water resistant. Their bodies are 4 blocks tall and 4 blocks wide with 9 tentacle-like limbs hanging from the bottom and eerie-looking eyes. Even though the Ghast are dangerous and aggressive, they appear to be crying and have patches under their eyes which are actually tear stains. They first appeared in the Halloween. Ghasts are able to spawn above any non-transparent block in the Nether that is not in a nether fortress, as long as there is sufficient space (at least a 4*4*4 space, with the base centered above a solid block), and the difficulty is not Peaceful. They screech which is very annoying if you have volume on. Compared to other mobs, the Ghast has a very long search range and can target a player up to 100 blocks away. When the player comes within about sixteen blocks, the Ghast will open fire and attempt to gain altitude.Ghasts may drop a ghast tear when killed, but this can be hard to collect - because it is a flying mob, the tear may fall into lava or an inaccessible area. Ghast tears are a positive potion ingredient for Regeneration potions, and are very valuable on most servers with economies, so Ghast tears are well worth obtaining.
Venus flytrap
"Venus flytrap"
The Venus flytrap is native to the bogs and swamplands of North and South Carolina. The Venus fly traps prey is limited to beetles, spiders and other crawling arthropods. Its normal diet is 33% ants, 30% spiders, 10% beetles, and 10% grasshoppers, with fewer than 5% flying insects. The lobe manufactures digestive juices and an antiseptic juice. This keeps the insect from decaying over the few days it is in the trap and purifies prey that it captures. The bugs can bite back! In the springtime, the Venus Fly Trap can be killed by the very insects it eats. Aphids can infect the plant and slowly kill it. Also, grasshoppers and caterpillars can eat parts of the plant, but this is uncommon. If one of these insects is bigger than a third of the size of the trap, it can cause severe leaf burn, stressing and killing it while the plant tries to devour it. Venus Fly Traps are health nuts. If you feed it a hamburger, the protein and fat-based meat will rot the plant, eventually killing it.

Spider jockey
"Spider Jocky"
The spider jockey is a mob from minecraft. This creature is basically a skeleton riding a spider. When you kill one of them, the other one continues to attack you, making this combination very dangerous when encountered. They drop the same items as a regular skeleton and spider. A spider has a 1% chance to spawn with a skeleton rider. This means that a spider spawner can very rarely spawn a spider jockey. Spiders spawned using Spawn Eggs in the Nether have a small chance(0.8% of the time) of a Wither Skeleton spawning on them. The spider controls the movement, so a Spider Jockey will wander aimlessly in the day and only pursue the player at night or in dimly lit areas when the spider is hunting. However, the skeleton will turn and fire at the player as soon as it sees them no matter the time of day When exposed to sunlight, the skeleton will burn and die like a normal skeleton, but the spider will remain active and deadly. Because a Spider Jockey can only spawn where an ordinary spider can, a spider-proofed area is also Spider Jockey-proof.
Spinosaurus
"Spinosaurus"
Spinosaurus may be the largest of all known carnivorous dinosaurs, even larger than Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus. Estimates published in 2005 and 2007 suggest that it was 41 to 59 ft in length and 7 to 20.9 tonnes in weight. The skull of Spinosaurus was long and narrow like that of a modern crocodilian. Spinosaurus is thought to have eaten fish; evidence suggests that it lived both on land and in water like a modern crocodilian. The distinctive spines of Spinosaurus, which were long extensions of the vertebrae, grew to at least 5.4 ft long and were likely to have had skin connecting them, forming a sail-like structure, although some authors have suggested that the spines were covered in fat and formed a hump. Multiple functions have been put forward for this structure, including thermoregulation and display. Very few Spinosaurus fossils have been found, and they are incomplete.

Titanoboa
From deep underground in a Colombian coal mine, in a layer dating to 65
million years ago, scientists have uncovered remains of the largest snake in the
world, Titanoboa cerrejonensis. Measuring 48 feet long and weighing in at
2,500 pounds, this massive predator could crush and devour a crocodile! Fossil
plants and animals found at the site reveal the earliest known rain forest,
teeming with life and dating to the Paleocene, the lost world that followed the
demise of the dinosaurs. Featuring a full-scale model of Titanoboa and
clips from a Smithsonian
Channel documentary, the exhibition delves into the discovery,
reconstruction, and implications of this enormous reptile.

Giant Squid
Giant squids can grow to a tremendous size. Recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 m (43 ft) for females and 10 m (33 ft) for males from caudal fin to the tip of the two long tentacles. The arms and tentacles account for much of the squid's great length, making it much lighter than its chief predator, the sperm whale. It is common to find circular scars from the suckers on or close to the head of sperm whales that have attacked giant squid. Giant squid have small fins at the rear of their mantles used for locomotion. Like other cephalopods, they are propelled by jet – by pulling water into the mantle cavity, and pushing it through the siphon, in gentle, rhythmic pulses. They can also move quickly by expanding the cavity to fill it with water, then contracting muscles to jet water through the siphon. Giant squid breathe using two large gills inside the mantle cavity. The circulatory system is closed, which is a distinct characteristic of cephalopods. Like other squid, they contain dark ink used to deter predators. It also has the largest eyes of any living creature except perhaps colossal squid – over 30 cm (1 ft) in diameter. Adult giant squids' only known predators are sperm whales, but pilot whales may feed on them, also. Juveniles are preyed on by deep-sea sharks and other fish because sperm whales are skilled at locating giant squid. Scientists have tried to observe them to study the squid. Giant squid are very widespread, occurring in all of the world's oceans. They are usually found near continental and island slopes from the North Atlantic Ocean, especially Newfoundland, Norway, the northern British Isles, Spain and the oceanic islands of the Azores and Madeira, to the South Atlantic around southern Africa, the North Pacific around Japan, and the southwestern Pacific around New Zealand and Australia. Specimens are rare in tropical and polar latitudes.

Mimick octopus
It grows up to 2 ft. Their tentacles are around 25 cm in length and no more than pencil thick. It was not discovered officially until 1998. Based on observation, the mimic octopus may decide which animal to impersonate depending on local predators. For example, when the octopus was being attacked by damselfish, the octopus was observed to appear as a banded sea snake, a damselfish predator. The octopus impersonates the snake by turning black and yellow, burying six of its arms, and waving its other two arms in opposite directions. The mimic octopus lives exclusively in nutrient-rich estuarine bays of Indonesia and Malaysia full of potential prey. It uses a jet of water through its funnel to glide over the sand while searching for prey, typically small fish, crabs, and worms. Mimics stalk their prey or the mimic octopus often by covering an area of sand under a disc of webs while using the tips of its fine arms to flush small animals into its suckers. It can probe its arms deep into burrows or holes to search for prey which it can then pass to its mouth. This octopus mimics venomous sole, lion fish, sea snakes, sea anemones, and jellyfish. For example, the mimic is able to imitate a sole by pulling its arms in, flattening to a leaf-like shape, and increasing speed using a jet-like propulsion that resembles a sole. When spreading its legs and lingering on the ocean bottom, its arms trail behind to simulate the lion fish's fins. By raising all of its arms above its head with each arm bent in a curved, zig-zag shape to resemble the lethal tentacles of a fish-eating sea anemone, it deters many fish. It imitates a large jellyfish by swimming to the surface and then slowly sinking with its arms spread evenly around its body. its scientific name: Thaumoctopus mimicus. Their preferred habitat is relatively shallow water normally less than 15 metres deep where there is a sand or silt substrate, so often this means near river mouths or estuaries. Unlike other reef-dwelling octopuses habitats, there are not hiding places galore within the habitat. Despite this, the mimic forages in daylight which one would expect makes this soft bodied, non venomous creature a prime target for predators. However the mimic clearly thrives in its environment and many believe this boldness is possible only because of its ability to impersonate other venomous creatures.
In mating, the male octopus inserts its hetocotylus, a specialised and extended arm, into the female's mantle cavity, where he deposits packets of sperm. Soon after the hectocotylus falls off and before too long the male will die. The female fertilises, and then carries the eggs in strings while continuing to feed, a feature unusual for octopus. The larvae hatch and shortly thereafter the female dies. The larvae drift as plankton until they mature, when they sink and begin life on the ocean floor.

Red Pandas
Native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China and is related to raccoons , skunks and weasels. The head and body length of red pandas measures 50 to 64 cm , and their tail is 28 to 59 cm. Males weigh 8.2 to 14 lb and females weigh 6.6 to 13 lb. The red panda has strong, curved and sharp semi-retractile claws. Shortly after waking, red pandas clean their fur like a cat, licking their front paws and then rubbing their backs, stomachs and sides. They also rub their backs and bellies along the sides of trees or rocks.
Red pandas are excellent climbers, and forage largely in trees. They eat mostly bamboo and may eat small mammals, birds, eggs, blossoms, and berries. In captivity, they were observed to eat birds, blossoms, maple and mulberry leaves, and bark and fruits of maple, beech and mulberry. Red pandas are able to reproduce at around 18 months of age, and are fully mature at two to three years. Adults rarely interact in the wild except to mate. Both sexes may mate with more than one partner during the mating season from mid January to early March.

Pitcher Plant
Pitcher plants are carnivores. Bats use pitcher plants as a toilet. They eat mostly insects, but sometimes small birds, frogs, rodents and rarely small monkeys. They are found in tropical areas of South America, many different areas of North America, and coastal areas of Australia. The insect or other prey is lured to the pitchers by the sweet nectar inside the pitcher. As it tries to drink nectar from the lid of the pitcher, it slides inside the pitcher into the liquid. There are small hairs pointing down into the base of the pitcher preventing the insect's escape by poking the insects in its face. The base of the pitcher is filled with rainwater which wets the insects wings, making it hard to escape. After struggling for several minutes, a liquid acid drowns the insect and digests it. In about 2-3 hours there is nothing left but the hard skin and bones.
